Cozy Winter Vibes
Winter has finally arrived here in Iowa, and all signs of Christmas have been packed up and put away for another year. What I love most about January is the fresh-start mentality of the new year along with the opportunity for simplicity in home decor. Some of my favorite wintery textures include flocked needles and trees, cozy furs, and comfy sweaters, and I enjoyed being able to incorporate many of these into our home for this season. 🙂
My chalkboard above our table holds my word for the new year. Grace. (To read more about the reasons behind my choosing this word for 2016, click here!) I love having this chalkboard in our dining room because it is a super easy way to add a personal & seasonal touch to the room for free!
I was able to keep our dining centerpiece pretty simple by wrapping some garland around a tin bucket from the Target Dollar Spot and stuffing it with a few small birch logs. 🙂
One of my favorite ways to spend any free time these days is snuggled up on this couch in that faux fur blanket with a steaming cup o’ joe — enjoying the beauty of a frozen tundra from the warmth and comfort of our home. I’ve never been a huge fan of winter temps, so making a cozy place to spend freezing days is a must in this house. 😉
Speaking of favorites…a recent favorite find of mine happens to be that sweater throw pillow in the center of our couch! Jon and I visited some friends up north for New Years, and of course had to make a pit stop at IKEA. (My husband really loves me…and IKEA too…lol) It was only $15 and adds some perfect cozy vibes to this space. And we are LOVING it!
One of the reasons I love using cloches for decor is that they are easily converted from season to season by simply swapping out the contents for something new that reflects the new or upcoming season! It is an easy way to add character to any side table or shelf without having to store large or awkwardly shaped seasonal pieces.
