Inspiration for hosting holidays, birthdays, or parties just because! 🙂

One of my favorite things about having a home is the opportunity we have to open our doors and the chairs around our table for others. Sharing what we have been blessed with is an even greater blessing than all of the things that we have been given! I love hearing the echoing laughter of gathered friends and family and even love the slightly stressful feeling of having to scrounge up another couple chairs (or similar things for more people to sit on 🙂 ). I am also a firm believer that there is no such thing as having a space to small to host! This is because our first apartment was about 600 sq. ft and we had about 10-15 people over many of the weekends that we were home during the school year. It was definitely a rather cozy experience, but those are some of my favorite memories of our first home!

Something that God has also been teaching me as of late is that our home does not have to be perfect for people to enter. As a perfectionist this is a hard thing for me to give up, but it is something that I believe is necessary in my life. I rely to much on the first impression my home rather than focusing on if the way in which I treat and welcome my guests is pointing them to Christ. This is a constant battle in my heart that I am praying Christ will win by taking the focus off of me and what I do and putting in on Him and all that He has done.

With that said, I hope you are able to find some inspiration for your next gathering! (And thanks for reading through my little rant. ;))
